A number of rail user groups have united in their call for new train services on the Carlisle-Settle-Manchester line.
The umbrella organisation, known as the Hellifield and East Lancashire Partnership (HELP), aims to ensure that daily services to Hellifield are included when the passenger service requirement for the line is drawn up.
The group, which claims wide support from local authorities, has already written to the Shadow Strategic Rail Authority stating why the new service is needed.
Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line vice-president Pete Shaw said: "Our new partnership is determined to influence public transport provision in this area.
A full daily train service in long overdue."
It is also wanting members of the public to write in with their support to the Shadow Strategic Rail Authority, 55 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0EU.
