SUNDAY afternoon.
The weekend seems to be hurtling towards Monday morning with breakneck speed.
Time to reset the controls and sit down with a soul-lifting tipple and some spine-tingling sounds.
Jazz singer Sue Parish, a Lancaster-based musician with six years of experience behind her, has recently got together with a local venue to provide a regular Sunday dose of laid back entertainment.
Each Sunday between 12.30 and 3.30pm, Sue will perform classic songs from the 1930s, 40s and 50s accompanied by a piano trio at the Whoop Hall Inn, Kirkby Lonsdale.
In recent years, Sue has been building a reputation in the North West as an interpreter of popular jazz standards, leading her own five-piece band and working in duo, trio and quartet formats.
Pianist Fred Yeadon and Bassist Laurence Canty add their own touch of magic to the proceedings, along with guest drummers.
Sue told the Gazette: "We have been getting a very positive response from the audience.
I think people want to be in a relaxed atmosphere.
We have had audiences ranging from small children, who may not have seen much live music before and are amazingly mesmerised by it, to older people who recognise the songs because they were the common currency of their youth."
"I enjoy singing enormously and it is a real treat to work with musicians of that calibre.
I'm chuffed to bits."
Sue Parish sings at the Whoop Hall Inn, Kirkby Lonsdale, every Sunday lunch time between 12.30 and 3pm.
