KENDAL returned to Winter League action away to Burnley, but a lack of match practice and a spell of poor play either side of half time cost them the spoils.
An excellent start saw Kendal open up an early 3-1 lead with goals from Darren Gibson, Myles Little and Peter Hetherington only to let the pressure slip.
Burnley came back to scored twice more but a Callum Donnelly goal gave Kendal a 4-3 half-time lead.
Determined Burnley resumed with four more goals in the third quarter with Kendal replying with two from Little.
Kendal bravely tried to bridge the gap in the final period, but Burnley scored again.
Kendal keeper Richard Foster saved a penalty and, despite a late goal from Hetherington, Burnley held on for an 8-7 win.
