Beatrix Potter's Hill Top property has been re-opened to the public following its extended closure due to the foot-and-mouth crisis.

The seventeenth century house, cared for by the National Trust, is where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous children's stories and has been kept exactly as she left it.

As the attraction is next to a busy farm, visitors will be asked to dip their feet in disinfectant and hours will be restricted.

The Hill Top house will be open Thursday to Sunday 11 am - 4.30pm with the shop open from 10.30am - 5pm.

The shop and garden only will be open on Monday from 11am - 4pm and the Beatrix Potter Gallery open Monday to Thursday from 11am-4.30pm.

Tickets for Hill Top can be booked in advance by calling 015394-36269.
