COMMUNITY groups in the Lancaster area can now get a helping hand to 'go green' and improve the local environment.
A new environmental fund will allow groups, schools and individuals to apply for financial help with projects such as wildlife gardens, new footpaths and composting schemes.
The projects must have lasting environmental benefits and be accessible for local people to enjoy.
Under the scheme - run
by Lancaster City Council,
the Environment Agency, Lancashire County Council and United Utilities - projects can become a Green Partnership Flagship scheme and be awarded up to £1,000.
Advice and help in developing projects can also be given.
Anyone applying for a grant will have to meet certain criteria and demonstrate their long-term commitment to the project.
For further information, contact Lancaster City Council on 01524-582061.
