SHIPYARD SHOCK: Barrow shipyard this week announced that 150 jobs were to be axed - the same day the company revealed it had secured a lucrative £4.3 billion deal to build the latest fleet of ships for the Royal Navy.
The Ministry of Defence announced it was to order three extra D class Type 45 Destroyers from BAE Systems later this year.
But the company said it did not solve short-term workload problems.
