TEENAGER Paul Bayman, the Furness bowler, made a memorable debut for Cumberland in the three-day Minor Counties Championship against Buckinghamshire at Beaconsfield this week.
At one stage medium-pacer Bayman had taken 3-14 and taken a catch and made a run-out.
He eventually finished with 3-44 as Cumberland got the upper hand in the match.
Making a bright start to this Easter Division fixture, Cumberland batted first and piled up 321 for nine declared.
Andy Williams, who plays alongside Cumberland skipper Martin Lewis for Edenfield in the Ribblesdale League,, top-scored with 105 and Ashley Metcalfe, the ex-Yorkshire ace, made 82.
Bucks were dismissed for 170 in reply - two runs fewer than they needed to avoid the follow-on and at start of play on Tuesday they were 56 ahead with nine wickets intact, but an appalling weather forecast threatened the contest.
Footnote: Cumberland play a three-day game against Cambridgeshire at Netherfield CC, starting next Monday.
Points are vial for the county's effort after a rained-off draw against Norfolk last week.
