TOP archers will be competing in Kendal next weekend, July 28-29 when the Grand Northern and the Cumbria County Outdoor competitions take place at Queen Katherine School.
It is Cumbria's turn to host the Grand Northern, which moves around the counties, for the first time in ten years and the competition will be held over both days.
It's a rare chance to see Master Bowmen plying their trade, some would say artistry, using a variety of bows ranging from modern-day recurves and compounds to the classic longbow and barebow and spectators are welcome to come along and watch the action.
Kendal Bowmen are the well-established local club who run classes for beginners throughout the summer and new recruits can always take up the sport which is practised at Kendal Cricket Club, Shap Road at weekends (contact Alan Hall 01524 735038 for details).
The Grand Northern tournament organiser is Mrs Margaret Wilkinson of Holme 01524 781158).
