CARTMEL Racecourse has got the all-clear to race again this year.
The scheduled Bank Holiday meeting due to take place on August 25 and 27 goes ahead after agreement from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Until recently, the racecourse had been located in an infected foot-and-mouth area.
The popular May meeting had to be abandoned.
However, livestock testing nearby has proved negative and plans are underway for staging the August meetings.
Cartmel's Clerk of the Course Charles Barnett said: " I am sure the racing will give the area a massive boost and attract thousands of visitors back into the Lake District."
A six-race card gets underway at 2.25pm at the Saturday meeting during the weekend.
