A PROJECT to enhance Cumbria's landscape should form part of the county's foot-and-mouth recovery plans, according to district councillors.
The Cumbria Landscape Project has been established to help enhance the landscape as an economic, social and environmental resource.
A project officer has been appointed for a year, but the county council is seeking to secure funding for a further two years.
South Lakeland District Council was asked to contribute to the scheme, and although it cannot contribute financially, the planning and transportation committee decided it should offer some officer help on the steering group.
Coun Stan Collins said: "I think we should suggest to the county council that they should include this proposal as part of their recovery package they put to the Government for help."
