Westmorland Gazette deputy news editor MIKE ADDISON and chief photographer PAUL BRAMHAM took to the main street of Kendal this week to confront motorists and delivery drivers parking in contravention of the town's traffic regulation orders.
Last week the paper launched its Park at Your Peril campaign with a promise to publish photographs of motorists who deliberately ignore parking restrictions.
It is hoped the shame of appearing in the local newspaper will achieve what the authorities have failed to do - deter rogue parking which is snarling up the town's traffic.
Members of the public are also encouraged to call a special hotline number - 01539-710161- if they see anyone blatantly breaking the law.
Seven motorists and delivery van drivers were spotted parking illegally on Tuesday lunchtime and most of those confronted were from outside the area.
