Carnforth town councillors gave their support to an innovative integrated public transport initiative due to be launched this autumn.
Earlier in the year, the Government announced £660,500 of funding for Carnforth Connect to help set up an information office on the platform at the town's station, where rail and bus passengers will be able to make travel inquiries and get advice on connections.
The office will also serve as a control room for two new responsive bus routes serving Milnthorpe and Wennington and the surrounding villages.
At the tow council's latest meeting, three Lancashire County Council officers gave a presentation outlining plans for the new scheme, which it is hoped will be up and running by the time the station's major revamp is completed.
Town clerk to the council John Pratt said that councillors were generally very impressed.
"We also heard of some similar schemes which have worked extremely well, so there's no reason to expect this will be anything but a success," he added.
