SUMMER will definitely go with a bang this year at the Royal Armouries, Leeds with shows from around the globe which will ensure that visitors of all ages have an unforgettable day out.
East meets West in August as entertainment is provided by the Far East and the Wild West.
On August 4 and 5, the Royal Armouries' Tiltyard will thunder into life as archers from the Nikko Toshogu shrine in Japan practice the ancient art of Yabusame archery.
Wearing sumptuous robes, they will demonstrate their skill using traditional longbow and arrow to hit various targets from a galloping horse.
This rare performance promises to be a spine-tingling event as the archers gallop at speeds of up to 20 mph.
It is thought their eerie cries and incantations invoke supernatural powers which disturb demons, and focus the archer's spiritual, mental and physical energies into performing the best shot possible.
The fun on August Bank Holiday weekend comes from thousands of miles away and over 100 years ago as all the fun, frolics and fighting of the Wild West come to the Royal Armouries.
Seven fantastic elements combine to make this event fun for the whole family - ' Wild West' themed interpretations: Buffallo Hunter, Annie Oakley,
Oregon Trail woman, Mountain Man and the Battle of Little Bighorn, as well as a Wild West show in the Tiltyard with sharp shooting trick riding, and a
western gun fight in the ampitheatre which will keep visitors on the edge of their seats.
