NATIONAL TREAT: Swapping the Highlands for the Lakeland fells, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland plays Kendal Leisure Centre's Westmorland Hall next Thursday (August 2, 7.30pm).
Under the baton of sought-after Swedish conductor Petter Sundkvist, the rising young stars of Scottish music play a programme including works by Sibelius and Shostakovich, plus the Brahms Violin Concerto in D, featuring 23-year-old virtuoso Janine Jansen (pictured), as soloist.
