NETHERFIELD Cricket Club have arranged to play Ormskirk in the semi-finals of the Thwaites Lancashire Cup on Sunday week, August 12.

The Parkside Road club will be hoping for a repeat result of last year's final when these teams met at Old Trafford and Netherfield triumphed to lift the trophy.

Netherfield saw their lead at the top of the Bay Northern Premier League cut to two points on Saturday.

South African professional Pieter Strydom was in magnificent form with the bat, hitting a personal season's best 128 against Morecambe last Saturday.

But on a sun-baked batsman's wicket, Netherfield could not dismiss their opponents and had to settle for eight points from a draw, while second-placed Chorley took a maximum 15 to close the gap.

This weekend Netherfield are in action at home both day in league and cup - v Leyland and Farington on Saturday (1pm) and v Morecambe on Sunday (1.30pm).

Kendla also have a double header, away to Fleetwood and at home to Lancaster respectively.
