POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man apparently attempted to grab a young girl as she walked with another girl along the B6384 towards Holme on Tuesday (July 31) afternoon.
The girls, who are both in their mid-teens, saw the man jogging before he approached them near Whassat.
The man then briefly tried to grab one of the girls before running off towards the A6 after apparently being disturbed by a passing car.
The man is described as a white male of thin build with white hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue knee-length shorts, a blue baseball cap and was wearing glasses.
He spoke in a local accent and appeared to be between 40 and 50 years of age.
A similar looking man was later seen wearing a cycle helmet and holding a mountain bike in the main square at Milnthorpe at 12.30pm on Wednesday (August 1).
Police say he looked to be asking a woman for directions.
Anyone with information, particularly the driver of the passing car and the woman in Milnthorpe square, is asked to contact DC Shaw at Kendal police on 01593-722611.
