IT WAS a tale of two greens for Cumbria County Ladies who played their last match of the season against Coventry and District.

The home leg was at Victoria, Kendal, and the choice of green proved to be a good one with Cumbria winning eight of the 12 games to finish with 216 chalks to 181.

Away it was a different story with a green so fast that games were taking longer and the match did not finish until around 6.30pm.

Cumbria took four games, but Coventry won with 222 chalks to 182.

The overall result was a victory for Coventry by five chalks.

There was no change at the top of Division One of the Rothay League as leaders Levens A and second-placed Staveley A both crashed to away defeats, gaining just one point each on their visits to Windermere B and Burneside A respectively.

David Medcalf (21-4) for Levens and Julie Johnson (21-14) for Staveley were the two winners for the away teams.

Bowness A and Levens B now lead the chasing group, but both are seven points adrift of Staveley.

In Division Two, Ambleside C had a shaky start to the season but are now unbeaten for nine matches and are looking increasingly likely to return to the higher division after just one year.
