A NEW guide that lists support services for people affected by cancer has been published by Morecambe Bay Health Authority.
Bosses at the health authority said it was the first comprehensive guide to cover the whole district.
It is being widely distributed by the Furness and South Cumbria Cancer Awareness Group, who compiled the booklet after successfully launching a guide last year that covered part of the district.
Response to that guide was so positive that it was decided to extend its scope and attempt to cover all support and advice sources for the whole of Morecambe Bay.
It is designed to meet the needs of patients, families and carers, and covers a wide range of cancers which can affect children, men and women.
The guide will be available at two cancer roadshows being held at the Drill Hall in Ulverston on Thursday, October 11, and at Forum 28 in Barrow on Friday, October 12, both from 10am until 2pm.
The roadshows will feature a wide range of displays with information and advice available from cancer professionals, and there will be a series of talks by clinicians about progress being made in the detection and treatment of cancers.
