NETHERFIELD CC had Kendal to thanks for doing them a good turn in the Bay Northenr Premier League on Saturday.

Kendal's 12-point win over second-placed Chorley helped Netherfield go further clear from those rivals at the top of the table as they stretched the gap from 10 to 14 points.

Kendal dismissed Chorley for just 86 and then knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets.

Netherfield had to be content with four points after their run chase was curtailed by rain at Blackpool.

Netherfield were 97-4 in pursuit of 134 for victory after professional Pieter Strydom struck with 5-32.

Strydom was dismissed in controversial fashion when he ducked under a beamer which hit the wickets.

Netherfield were on target to win with Graham Clarke (28) still in when the weather intervened.

Netherfield started their Thwaites Lancashire Cup semi-final at home to Ormskjirk on Sunday.

After putting on 50 without loss in 14 overs, Netherfield saw their effort dashed by heavy rain which prevented further play.

Now the teams must meet again, probably this Sunday when the Lancashire Cup will take preference over the Slater Cup semi-final with Kendal.
