A FORMER Carnforth High School pupil who became the officer in charge of the British Transport Police at Bangor has decided to hang up his truncheon and retire after 30 years in the service.
Police sergeant William Rogerson, a native of Morecambe, joined the force in 1971 and has served at Birmingham New Street, Coventry, Leicester, Heysham Harbour and Crew before his move to Bangor in 1989.
Mr Rogerson was awarded an MBE in 1995 for his work with the British Transport Police and his charity work for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
In 1993 he was given the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
