VOLUNTEERS are being sought by the Aquarium of the Lakes at Lakeside to take part in a beach clean at Ulverston next month.
The clean up will take place on Sunday September 16 at Bardsea between mid-day and 2pm.
It is part of the nationwide Beachwtch campaign organised by the Marine Conservation Society.
Last year over 1,300 Beachwatch volunteers removed 185,482 items from 150 beaches around the United Kingdom.
"We' re hoping this year's event will be the biggest ever with even more volunteers taking part," said Aquarium of the Lake's Cathy Burrows.
"Rather than just picking up litter volunteers will be asked to record the type of rubbish they find to get a better picture of the overall state of our beaches."
All rubbish collected will be taken back to the aquarium where it will be individually itemised and as much as possible will be recycled.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact Ms Burrows on 015395-30153.
