A south Lakeland charity has fallen for fishing, hook line and sinker, after netting a batch of free equipment for its clients.
The Kendal Granary, a drop in centre for people with learning difficulties, mental health problems and the homeless, has been given rods, tackle, line and permits and their volunteers now plan to hit the river banks on a regular basis.
Support worker Charles Nettleton said: "We have one person that calls in - Peter Dwyer, who loves fishing and so does one of his friends.
I had been thinking about ways of stimulating friendship between people that call in and I thought fishing would be ideal.
