GOALS either side of half-time provided a severe setback for Kendal Town's new look squad on a miserable night where they create little against a Trafford side hungry to improve on their fifth-place finish in last year's UniBond League First Division.
Tuesday was so gloomy for a summer night that the floodlights were on for the 7-45pm start.
Initially, Kendal's long ball out of defence pinned back Trafford, but just when it looked as if would be goalless at half-time, up popped former Netherfield star striker from the mid 1990s Darren Emmett to crash in a 25-yard shot which squeezed in off the upright.
In the 57th minute Trafford went 2-0 up when Wilkinson hoisting a teasing cross which Jones sent rocketing into the net with a diving header.
To completely ruin Kendal's night Cliff was red-carded in the 75th minute.
Referee Mr D.G.
Cummins failed to see Murray's hack at his shins with the ball nowhere near, but turned in time to see Cliff's retaliatory strike.
