ONE of Kendal's most overlooked shopping zones could soon be sporting a brand new look if plans to rejuvenate the area get off the ground.

In a bid to boost visitor numbers and win back passing trade, retailers in Kirkland are being encouraged to give their properties a facelift.

A team of Kendal College students, armed with paint pots and brushes, could also be drafted in as part of the rejuvenation exercise dreamed up by Kendal Civic Society along with residents, retailers and local councillors.

Although retailers will have to foot the bill for the revamp themselves, the Kirkland Partnership hopes a planned approach could result in a more co-ordinated look for the area and save shop owners money by bulk buying services.
