A FAMILY of four took spending quality time together to new lengths by taking part in a gruelling 136-mile coast-to-coast charity cycle ride, writes Victoria Clark.
Carnforth's Keith Quinn and wife Lyndis rode the Morecambe to Scarborough route on a tandem bike, accompanied by sons Mark, 30, and Paul, 32, who completed the epic ride slightly ahead of their parents in exactly ten hours.
Mr Quinn, who has run the Dyno-start shop in Carnforth for almost 26 years, said the idea to take part in the race came to him just days after he bought the tandem when someone came into the shop asking to put up a poster about the coast-to-coast challenge.
The family raised £1,800 in sponsorship, which will be divided between the event's four designated charities: the NSPCC, Marie Curie Cancer Care, the British Heart Foundation and Fighting Kidney Disease.
The ride was organised by the Yorkshire Charity Cyclist Association, which has raised £90,000 since its first race 11 years ago.
