THE EDEN Railway Trust is holding an open weekend this Bank Holiday to let the public take a look at its plans to reopen a section of track between Appleby and Warcop.
The charity will be offering a free classic bus service between Appleby and Kirkby Stephen via Warcop station where the group's trains will be on display.
On Monday afternoon, the trust will also be taking the project a step closer to reality with an official signing with Railway Paths Ltd for the acquisition of the first part of the line from Filtholme to Sandford.
The trust plans to start running steam-hauled passenger trains next year between Warcop and Sandford with a full service to the old Appleby East station by 2005.
The open weekend will run Saturday to Monday, from 11am to 4pm.
