WATER customers are set to benefit from a pipe bridge that will carry their supplies off to be treated, according to a water company.
United Utilities bosses want to build the pipe bridge at Gurnal Bridge, over the River Sprint, at Skelsmergh.
The pipe is part of a scheme to transfer water supplies for 8,000 customers in the Staveley, Windermere, Troutbeck Bridge, Ambleside and Grasmere areas from Thirlmere Aqueduct, to the Watchgate Water Treatment Works near Kendal for treatment.
The pipe will be constructed from mild steel, and the exposed pipe will be painted in a matt finish colour, according to plans submitted to South Lakeland District Council.
