LOCAL ace John Bell (Bowerham/Bentham) captained Cumbria's Over-45 team to promotion from Division 4B of then national LTA Veteran Inter-County Men's 45 Championship last Sunday when they beat Derbyshire 3-2.
Playing at Ulverston, the team pulled out all the stops, having trailed 2-1 after the singles round.
The squad also included Mike Robinson and Roger Ridley (Carlisle) and Richard Morris (Penrith).
In the earlier rounds, Cumbria beat North Wales and the Isle of Man and lost to Shropshire.
Brian Houston and Phillip Cook, both of the North Lonsdale club, and Peter Helme (Coniston) all played for the county during the season.
