Witton Albion - 2, Kendal Town - 0
GOALS by Witton Albion's Carl Rendell at either end of the match brought Kendal Town's bank holiday programme to a disappointing close.
Town have now recorded one draw and three losses from the opening games in the UniBond League and languish at the foot of the First Division table.
On Monday Witton ahead on 11 minutes when Carl Rendell fired through a crowd of players to beat Kendal keeper Lee Ward.
Kendal's Neil Reynolds saw a well-struck effort deflected for a corner and two minutes later Stuart Cliff saw his volley well saved by Gregg Price, Kendal's star keeper of last year thwarted the visitors twice during the first half, saving a good volley by Stuart Cliff and a glancing header from David Foster.
A double substitution on the hour almost had an impact when Nick Rogan, making a welcome return to the Kendal ranks, swung in a cross for Vickers, but the ball just eluded the head of the ex-Bamber Bridge forward.
Mistakes crept in to Kendal's play in the closing minutes as they appeared to lack ideas on how to break down the home defence and it was Rendell who wrapped it up for Witton when he swooped on an error by Simon Woodward and netted with the aid of a deflection.
