FUND-RAISERS in Grange-over-Sands were in buoyant mood this week following another breakthrough in their bid to raise cash for a community swimming pool.
The Cartmel Peninsular Recreational Trust has been attempting to raise £800,000 'match funding' to net a Sport England National Lottery Grant to pay for a pool.
Over the last week the trust has hosted a cross Bay walk raising £8,000 in one day and attracted a further £7,000 of individual donations.
After raising more than £68,000 in the last seven weeks, the trust now has only £20,000 left to go.
Spokesman Carole Taylor said: "Someone actually dropped a cheque for £2,000 into our collection bucket at the cross Bay walk.
I always knew people of Grange really wanted a swimming pool but this is tremendous.
We are so close now."
