CLARE Tibke of the Cancer BACUP centre in Kendal has welcomed the launch of a campaign to highlight the threat of cancer-related fatigue.
Cancer treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy can all lead to extreme tiredness and lethargy.
Mrs Tibke, a trained cancer specialist nurse, is urging patients in South Lakeland suffering from cancer-related fatigue to seek treatment rather than dismiss the symptoms.
"We want people to know that their doctor or nurse may be able to help.
Fatigue can be managed with a blood transfusion, drugs or diet improvements.
It is important to let staff know how you are feeling rather than suffering in silence."
Information packs on coping with cancer-fatigue are available on 01539-734492.
