CUMBRIA Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is the first of the 47 local LSCs to receive the 'Positive about Disabled People' award.
The award was presented to executive director of Cumbria LSC Mick Farley by Cumbria's employment disability manager Liz Pennington.
Mr Farley said that this will let people with disabilities know that the LSC are serious about employing them for the skills and abilities they bring.
"This makes it clear to job applicants with a disability that they will be welcomed for their abilities and will be encouraged to develop as employees."
Cumbria LSC can now use the award's 'two ticks' symbol on their stationary and publicity material, to further raise the awareness of disability issues amongst businesses and across the wider community.
