EVER heard of a band from Barrow called 12ft Machete? Well, neither had I until I found myself in the deep-lilac painted offices that are home to Recharge magazine.
Launched this month, the mag describes itself as 'the definitive guide to music and lifestyle aimed at 18 to 35s'.
Being just a fraction out of the age bracket, I dressed as studentesque as possible and, chanting lyrics from a recent Eminem track, strutted up to the first floor to meet Mark Radzan and his partner Roger Gilbertson.
Well, obviously the guys had left the hipster jeans at home, there was no mention of ' respect' or 'chillin out' - just serious enthusiasm for music, the latest clubs and bars and lifestyle for young people here in the North West.
Even thought my 'rave' days have come and gone (in my day we called it disco), I have to say I couldn't put this magazine down.
Well written, it is easy to read, gets to the point and covers topics that I think most of us can relate to, such as house reviews, film reviews, clubbing nights out, the truth behind hen nights in Blackpool, fashion, make-over and a fabulous insight into the life of an obsessed whitewater kayaker.
The mag is a great informative read, keeping you up-front on what's out there, from the best DJs and sounds, to new talent and new looks on the street.
Mark Radzan is 31 and trained on the music scene in production and technology at Kendal College before embarking on editorial.
Leaving his business partner holding down the technical side of things, Mark travels far and wide to view new bands and test out gigs with his editor girlfriend Andrea Khan.
