EVER felt you had to sit in a certain chair at the restaurant, that you can't possibly sleep on the wrong side of the bed? Do you travel better facing the right way on a train or have a favourite seat for watching the TV?
Well, guess what - you are tuning into your own chi.
Chi is what the Chinese have long called the energy field that surrounds us.
Acupuncturists use needles to try to calm or boost our chi for healing.
Joanna Greenway uses Feng Shui to determine chi to sort out the energies that surround us in our daily lives.
"Feng Shui (pronounced Foong Shway) is a way of organising your surroundings to have the most positive effect on your life.
There's nothing to believe in and no expensive gadgets.
Practitioners work with the vital energy or life-force, chi (pronounced chee), to ensure a good flow of positive energy through every room," says Joanne.
The Japanese say that the space, or Ma, between things is just as important as the things themselves.
Mirrors are ideal for 'tunnel' areas like hall and stairs where energy flows quickly - they slow it down, creating space.
However, too many mirrors in a bedroom aren't good as mirrors bounce energy around a room.
Check out some of the best ways to start changing your chi for the better:
Look for romantic pictures, china ornaments in matching pairs or soft cushions with reds or pinks for the south-west corner of your bedroom to improve your chances of a happy relationship.
Keep the front door looking prosperous and welcoming.
Look for a shiny new number plate or light for over the door.
Get down to the garden centre sale and look for a vigorous, round-leaved evergreen to stand next to it.
If someone in the family is starting at university or college this September, look for a chunk of quartz crystal to stand on the north-east corner of their desk or room.
Look for a pleasing picture of fresh running water - fountain, river or waterfall, in a dark frame is best - and hang it on the north wall of your living room or by the front door to stimulate your career luck.
Ornaments connected with the sea, such as boats, fish or compasses, are also effective, as are touches of dark blue in the dcor.
Make sure your front door opens fully - clear away the anoraks, scarves, boots etc from behind it.
New energy enters by the front door - make sure it can get in!
