A website set up to spread the word about a small north Lancashire village has attracted hundreds of hits in its few weeks.
Within two days of the Over Kellet village website going online on the World Wide Web, the site recorded 538 hits, to the delight of site designer Gordon Galloway.
"The feedback so far has been tremendous, I'm chuffed to bits because I know the hundreds of hours of hard work that have gone into it," he said.
The idea for the site emerged as a result of a computer club set up following the provision of IT facilities in the newly refurbished village hall.
"We needed a project to work on, and realised the village didn't have its own website," said Mr Galloway.
"What we decided to do was to was create a snapshot of the village as it is today."
The current site - which was funded by a £300 grant from the Lancashire Environmental Action Fund - contains more than 200 photographs, maps and information about the village's focal points including the shop, pub, church, school and village hall.
It also has contact details for village organisations and groups, as well as a parish appraisal carried out in 1996 which gives details about how the village has developed.
Mr Galloway, who was helped by Helen and Peter Thomas and Graham Agnew, is now full of plans on how the site can be developed, with a message board and the creation of more off-site links being top of the list.
Eventually he hopes to be able give villagers their own page which they could design and work on within the main site.
Mr Galloway is also keen to get villagers involved in helping to develop the site, and is hoping that plenty of people will come to sessions in the hall on the first and third Monday of every month from 7pm to 9.30pm.
