With entry numbers for the parade at their highest ever, organisers hope the procession will be a huge benefit to the community.
In a bid to attract more people to the town, especially during the day, free activities are being staged throughout the town from 10am.
Here's what to look out for on Torchlight day:
Big day countdown
10am to 12 noon, and 2pm to 4pm: K Village Outlet Centre and The Westmorland Shopping Centre will host free activities and entertainment for visitors and residents.
Members from Derian House Children's Hospice Team will be on hand, alongside the world's only 1850 Richter 60 key street organ and other entertainment.
2.30pm: the Torchlight Fairground on Goose-holme will open, free of charge for disabled people, and will be open as usual throughout the evening.
5.30pm to 7.30pm: K Village Outlet will be keeping its doors open to shoppers.
6.45pm: Roads are closed off as street entertainers prepare to show off their tricks.
7.45pm: Balloons are released into the air from Lound Road, marking the start of the procession.
