THE Bentham Market Town Initiative continues to gather pace with work planned or starting on a series of projects to improve the environment.
Development of the play area for under fives at the High Bentham Community Primary School has begun and this month (April) will see North Yorkshire County Council start work on traffic calming.
It will include extra signs for Robin Lane and Summerhill in High Bentham, and Burton Road, Low Bentham.
A draft plan for the playing fields off Wenning Lane is expected soon so that a redevelopment scheme can be included in year two of the action plan.
New projects under consideration include the construction of a nature trail, refurbishment of the railway station, and new premises for the Looking Well.
