A BOOK of a collection of poetry, fiction and artwork by more than 30 people in the Furness area has been launched.
More than 80 people attended the official launch of the book entitled, The Edge, in the Kings Arms, in Ulverston.
Of the 300 copies printed, 130 copies were sold on the night.
The book is a collaboration of work by members of the Barrow Writers group and other groups and individuals living between Millom and Coniston.
Funding for the project was provided by Cumbria County Council's Neighbourhood Forum, South Lakeland District Council and Barrow Writers.
Editor of the book Dickon Abbott said: "The idea came from a quarterly publication that was brought out by the Barrow Writers group.
We thought that we should get together a number of groups in the Furness area to bring out the book.
"There has been a lot of preparation and hard work gone into publishing the book but on the launch night we sold 130 copies, which is brilliant as our first print run was for only 300 copies.
" No-one is making a profit out of it and we are hoping that from the sales of the books we will be able to bring out future publications."
The book is available to buy at Ottakers, in Barrow, and the Tinner's Rabbit, in Ulverston.
It is also available to rent from Barrow Library and Ulverston Library.
