A BODY washed up on a beach was identified on Wednesday as that of a 39-year-old Kendal man who had sparked an extensive search after going missing while holidaying in the Millom area with his parents over Easter.
David Tebay, of Windermere Road, had been missing since 3pm on Sunday when he went for a walk on the beach at Silecroft.
Police said that his family described him as being " quite depressed" at the time of his disappearance.
A huge search involving police officers and police dogs, 26 members of Millom Mountain Rescue Team and rescue dogs were all involved in the hunt for Mr Tebay.
His body was found by a member of the public at Gutterby Point, north of Silecroft, at around 4.50pm on Tuesday.
Police say that Mr Tebay had been holidaying with his parents, Bryan and Jean Tebay, also of Windermere Road.
They were too upset to talk about the tragedy when contacted by the Gazette yesterday.
An inquest for identification purposes was due to be opened and adjourned by the West Cumbria coroner yesterday.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
