STEPS are being taken at Arnside to relieve traffic problems and congestion caused by walkers congregating at the promenade fountain prior to the start of the cross-bay walks.
Organisations are to be informed by new walks leaflets of the procedure.
The area of the promenade now has parking restricted to one hour, with no return within two hours, and walkers' vehicles should be parked on the foreshore.
Walkers then proceed along the foreshore to the vicinity of the shelter in order to register.
They then continue along the foreshore to the steps at the pier, then down again onto the foreshore to the slipway nearest Ashmeadow.
Walks start on Saturday, April 20, starting from Arnside at 10.45am with an anticipated end time at Kents Bank of 1.30pm.
All proceeds are for Marie Curie nursing services.
