RELEGATED Waterloo showed plenty of fight to deny a depleted Kendal side without six regular first-teamers.
Kendal began well by taking an 8-0 lead after 16 minutes thanks to a 40-metre Jason Balmer try and a Mike Scott penalty, but Waterloo took advantage of poor tackling to reply with a converted try from Steve Wand.
Scott kicked another penalty but gifted Waterloo the chance to go ahead for the first time after 35 minutes when Mark Tattersall crossed for an interception try and Rob Hitchmore converted for a 14-11 lead.
Another Scott penalty took the sides into half time on level terms, but Waterloo had the better of the second half with tries from Freeman Payne and Hugo Corbett with only a Scott penalty in reply to open a 10-point gap.
Chris Malherbe flew in for a late Kendal try five minutes from the end but they could not close the deficit further.
