KENDAL South Choir will be performing the relatively unknown but beautiful Healey Willan Requiem at its concert at Kendal Leisure Centre on Saturday, April 27.
Healey Willan was the only non-resident Englishman to be commissioned to write a work for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, so the choir feels it is particularly appropriate to perform the requiem by him at its major concert of the Golden Jubilee year.
Offering a superb contrast will be the Beethoven Mass in C.
The concert is set to feature soloists from the Royal Northern College of Music, a professional orchestra from the Manchester area, and will be conducted by Hugh Davies.
Tickets from choir members, Kendal Leisure Centre or choir secretary Margaret Saunders on 01524-811579.
