Remember the Father Christmas created by author Raymond Briggs of 'Snowman' fame? David, of Ambleside's Apple Pie Eating House, has made the character in marzipan to great acclaim at the national bakery and confectionery competition held in Wales.
His efforts resulted in a first prize - one of five he gained at the competition, the biggest in the industry calendar.
David also clocked up three second places and three thirds.
"I actually won five first prizes last year as well so I am pleased to have kept up my own standards," said David whose honours were for two types of currant loaf, a malted bread, and oven-bottom coburg as well as 'Father Christmas'.
Several weeks work go into the preparation for the competition.
David commented: "But it's all worth it when you do so well."
