HONEY-lovers should make a beeline for Hawkshead where Fiona Taylforth, of The Honeypot specialist gift food shop, is more than weathering the present storm over honey from China.
Many supermarkets have had to withdraw their entire stock because their blends may contain Chinese honey, currently the subject of fears about possible antibiotic contamination from the atmosphere.
In Hawkshead, however, Fiona knows exactly where the honey has come from which goes into each of the pots she sells.
The honey crisis has slightly reduced her range of more than 50 honeys.
But she still has Rose Canadian Clover Honey, Rose American Eucalyptus, Greek Mountain, Lakeland, Manuka, Wild Thyme, Honeycomb honeys (blended at Ellel, near Lancaster), and extra special honeys with ginger, with apricots, with heather, and with vanilla, for example.
