HUNDREDS of boxed and inscribed medals are to be given to Kendal's primary and junior school children as part of the town's Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Kendal town councillors have agreed to spend £2,500 on 2,000 medals which will be presented to the children at school or possibly at the Mayor's parlour in the Town Hall.
The medals will be inscribed with the town council's coat-of-arms.
The council is also organising a civic Evensong church service, which will be held at Kendal Parish Church at 6.30pm on June 2 and also plans to re-stage the town's treasure event - a display of council valuables and memorabilia - on June 1 in the Mayor's Parlour.
Bunting will also be put up throughout the town and the council is also sharing the costs of flags to be mounted from brackets of buildings.
School children in Grange-over-Sands will be presented with individual photographs of the Queen to mark the Jubilee year thanks to the town council.
The images, produced by the council for around £500, will be given to each pupil at Grange Primary School on May 31, at a special lawn party to be held at the school.
Each picture will be backed by chronicled information about The Queen's 50-year reign.
Other plans to celebrate the Jubilee in the seaside town are also taking shape.
