ORIENTEERS travelled to the Forest of Dean over the Easter weekend for the Jan Kjellstrom festival and Vicky Brocklebank of Lakeland Orienteering won a trophy.
Although only fifth on the first day, Vicky had an excellent run on the second day to put her into first overall on women's 20 elite.
Beryl Offley was second on W50L on the first day but was unable to compete on the second day due to injury and Ed Nash, who had beaten top international runners in a very close race to be placed second on the first day, could only manage seventh on the second day for a sixth-place finish in Men 21 elite.
Mark Saunders ran consistently well to be fourth overall in M18A.
Relays were held on the Monday and the Lakeland youngsters performed well with Jonathan Procter, Tom Winsor and Will Spain winning the men's total
age/48 years class.
Sarah Price, Sadie Burrow and Sarah Browne won the women's short race, with Lucie Moseley, Sarah Butterfield and Leona Brocklebank placed third.
A team from Warrior OC based at Ambleside were third in the men's open class.
A Cumbria Galoppen event took place in warm sunshine at Lingholm near Keswick on Sunday.
Local runners with top-three placings were: Chris Williams (2nd yellow), Alison Fryer (2nd orange), Robert Browne and
Gareth Knowles (1st & 3rd light green), Martin Bagness (Warrior OC, 1st brown) and Iain Smith-Ward (2nd brown).
