SIR John Barrow's Cottage was due to be taken over by Ulverston Heritage Centre today (Friday).
The centre is launching a fund-raising campaign to return the interior of the cottage at Dragley Beck, in Ulverston, to the way it looked when the explorer, Sir John Barrow, lived there as a child.
The Heritage Centre moved out of its current premises on Lower Brook Street, in Ulverston, on Saturday.
As well as the cottage, the group is to rent rooms at Hanover House, which is expected to open to the public in six weeks.
The Sir John Barrow Trust agreed to lease the cottage to the centre following a meeting on Monday.
