KEEN bird watcher Nicholas Almond spotted his first swallow of the year in the yard outside his home in Milnthorpe on
April 15.
He said the birds are not usually seen until around St George's Day, later in April.
A week earlier Mr Almond saw a bright yellow brimstone butterfly, which he also thought was around earlier than usual.
