FOUR trees worth £200 have been stolen from a woodland outside Ambleside - just 15 months after they were planted to replace other trees removed from the same location.
An ash, oak, rowan and European silver fir went missing from Fox Ghyll, a small woodland owned by the Lake District National Park Authority, during the fortnight before Good Friday, March 19.
Area ranger Steve Gaskell said a similar number of trees had been uprooted from the same location in November 2000.
He said it was frustrating as a lot of staff time had gone into planting the trees and maintaining the site, and he was reluctant to replace the trees yet again.
Kendal police have been informed and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call them on 01539-722611.
