A bid to bring out the bookworm in children is being launched with the start of a new reading group for nine to 11-year-olds.
'Orange Chatterbooks', a new national initiative for youngsters, has got under way at Ormsgill Library, Middlefield, Ormsgill,
Barrow, and aims to encourage children to read adventurously, share their enthusiasm about books and develop their confidence to express opinions about reading.
The new group at Ormsgill Library meets monthly and is open to up to 15 members who will receive materials to get started, including reading diaries, fortune-teller book choice games, pencils, magnetic bookmarks and stickers.
